All round excellence

Drymmau Hall is thrilled to share the news that our recent inspection by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) resulted in us being rated excellent in all the four areas they inspect.

CIW is the independent regulator of social care services in Wales and it plays a vital role in regulating and promoting the quality of care homes throughout Wales. It registers all care homes and regularly inspects and monitors the services care homes provide to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with regulations.

It is therefore a yardstick for us here at Drymmau Hall to see how our efforts are officially rated. And importantly, it is a useful tool to help families currently outside the care system to compare care homes and choose the right one for their loved ones here in Wales.

These inspections are unannounced and our latest inspection took place at Drymmau Hall in January, when the Inspectorate spoke in depth with our residents, staff and families as well as reviewing our management plans, record keeping and care delivery.

It is worth highlighting the key points they rated:

1 – Well-being – excellent

“Well-being is excellent and people live healthily and safely with control over their lives. From discussions with our people and their families it is evident there is strong satisfaction with the care provided…People we spoke with, and their relatives describe the home as exceptional, caring, and family-like… People’s well-being is the centre focus here.

2 – Care & Support – excellent

“Care and support is excellent and people are supported to achieve their personal outcomes through high quality, person-centred care. The provider (Drymmau Hall) conducts highly detailed assessments to ensure they can meet people’s needs before offering a service… A family member told us, they are very good at communicating, very good at identifying (her) needs and they are experts in the area.”

3 – Environment – excellent

“The environment is excellent, meets people’s needs and provides suitable spaces along with well-maintained facilities and equipment. Drymmau Hall is a large and spacious building with a number of inviting communal areas where people can spend their time if they choose… One person told us, in the evenings we can go to the patio and have a coffee out there. It’s so fresh and airy.”

4 – Leadership & Management – excellent

“Leadership and management of the service is excellent. There is exceptionally strong oversight and governance by the RI, who works in the service daily. They work closely with and are supported by a committed, knowledgeable and experience management team… Staff told us, Management are amazing, they actually really care about people, they always put them first, it’s nice to work with people like that and I can go to the management with a problem and they will always listen and make changes.

At Drymmau Hall we can’t say we are not proud of the feedback and the sense of achievement we felt when these findings were shared with us ahead of the final report being published in February 2026. The report reflects years of working towards this and it is always good news to hear that our combined efforts are acknowledged. It is testament to the whole Drymmau Team – our extended family of management, staff and residents – working together to be as good as we can be every day of the year. It is also a strong signal to those who are looking for care in the future that they will be safe and loved here.

The highlights above are only a small part of the final report which you can download and read in full here.
